The origin
According to the belief that they profess, people claiming descent from Batara baduy origin, one of the seven gods or a god who is sent to earth. The origin is often attributed to the Prophet Adam as the first ancestors. According to their belief, Adam and his descendants, including the citizens has a duty Baduy ascetic or mandita to maintain the harmony of the world. According Danasasmita and Djatisunda Baduy people are local residents who made the mandal ‘(sacred area)’ officially by the king, because the inhabitants are obliged to maintain kabuyutan (the place of ancestor worship or ancestor), rather than a Hindu or Buddhists Principal in this region known as Sunda kabuyutan teak or Sunda Asli or Sunda Wiwitan (wiwitan = original, origin, principle, teak). Hence their original religion was given the name Sunda Wiwitan. King who made the region as mandala is a Rakeyan Baduy Darmasiksa. There is another version of the history of the tribe Baduy, started when  son of the king Siliwangi home from Arabia after became Moslem in the hand of Sayyidina Ali. The son wants to convert the king and his followers. At the end of the story, with ‘wangsit Siliwangi’ received by the king, they object to convert to Islam, and spread to corners Sunda remain in his conviction. The language they use of Sunda-Banten dialect. To communicate with the outside of their current population using the Indonesian language, although they do not get this knowledge from school. Inner Baduy do not know the culture of writing, so that customs, belief/religion and ancestral stories stored only in the course of oral utterance.


Baduy community trust known as the Sunda Wiwitan rooted in ancestor worship to the spirits (animism)which in the further development is also influenced by Buddhism, Hinduism and Islam. The core belief is shown by the existence of absolute Pikukuh or customary provisions adopted in the daily life of people Baduy. The most important contents of Pikukuh (compliance) Baduy is concept of “ no change”, or as few changes as possible “ length can not / should not be cut, the short can not / should not be connected”. The object of the trust is important for the community Baduy Arca Domas, whose location is kept secret and is considered the most sacred. Baduy  visit these  location to conduct worship once a year in kalmia, which in 2003 coincided with the month  of July only Puun which is the biggest indigenous leader and only a few selected members of public who follow the cult group. In the complex there are Arca Domas stone mortar that holds rain water. If at the time of worship found in a stone mortar exists  in a state full of clear water, then for the Baduy people it is sign that the rain of the year will be much decreased, and the harvest will prosper. Conversely, if a stone mortar is dry or murky water, it is a sign of crop failure.

Groups in society Baduy
Baduy community generally divided  into three groups: Tangtu, Panamping and dangka. Tangtu group is a group known as the inner baduy most strictly follow the tradition, people living in three villages: Cibeo, Cikartawana and Cikeusik.Characteristict Baduy people are dressed in white, natural and dark blue and wearing white headbands. Panamping community groups are those known as the outer baduy who lived in various villages scattered around the area of inner baduy like Cikadu, Kaduketuk, Kadukolot, Gajeboh, Cisagu and others. Foreign Baduy people wear distinctively colored clothing and a black headband. If Baduy  Domestic and Foreign Baduy living in the region, then Baduy Dangka is Baduy live outside the area, and currently living in the remaining two villages, namely Padawarsa (Cibengkung) and Sirahdayeuh (Cihandam). Kampong dangka functions as a kind of buffer zone of influence from outside

The itinerary
DAY 01: Jakarta – Ciboleger (Border village)
We will pick you up at Jakarta air port or Jakarta city. We’ll meet you there with our representative then drive  directly  to Ciboleger by car passes through hills, forest, rice field, it takes about 5 hours. We’ll take a rest and have  lunch before continue to walk to Kadu Ketuk and Gajeboh villages where you’ll see the Bady’s community in their lives. Dinner will be served. Stay an overnight at Baduy’s house.

DAY 02: Ciboleger - Jakarta

After you’ve  had breakfast. We  walk into some Baduy's villages of   where you will see their life activities and the culture. back to Jakarta in the afternoon. ( B/L)
